Why this experience is different
🏆 Officially awarded for innovation by Turisme Comunitat Valenciana 2026
🍷 The only Roman wine & archaeology experience in the region
🏛️ Based on real archaeological sites and historical sources
👥 Private experience only – tailored to each group
🧠 Designed for curious, culture-driven travelers
This is not a standard wine tour, nor a winery visit focused on tasting alone. Most wine tours focus on tasting. This experience focuses on understanding.
It connects wine with Roman history, archaeology and Mediterranean culture, using real sites and historical evidence to reconstruct a world that no longer exists visually, but still survives in the territory.
This is the only experience of its kind in the Comunitat Valenciana, and it has been officially recognised with the Creaturisme Innovation Award 2026 for its originality and innovative approach to cultural tourism.
A journey into Roman daily life
Wine in Roman times was never just a drink. It was part of religion, economy, agriculture and social structure.
During this private experience, we explore how wine was produced, stored, transported and consumed in Roman Hispania, and how it was deeply connected to food, land ownership and daily routines.
The experience takes place in key Roman locations of the Valencian territory, such as Sagunto, a former Roman city of strategic importance, and a rural Roman Villa, where wine production, agriculture and domestic life were closely connected.
These spaces allow us to understand Roman society as a whole — not only how wine was consumed, but how cities and countryside functioned together.
The focus is not on visiting monuments, but on using archaeological spaces to explain how people lived.
Rather than a lecture, the experience unfolds as a narrative.
Each place helps build a clearer picture of Roman life, connecting landscape, architecture and everyday practices.
Wine, food and the Roman table
Roman wine was always linked to food.
Throughout the experience, we talk about how wine was mixed, flavoured and consumed, and how it accompanied daily meals as well as social gatherings.
Some tastings are inspired by ancient recipes and historical sources, always explained in context and without theatrical reenactments.
The aim is not to recreate the past artificially, but to understand it through taste and explanation.
This approach allows visitors to reflect on how Mediterranean food culture has evolved — and how many habits still remain today.
